Variables
Long-billed Curlew
In the easternmost part of its Oregon range, it occurred the most
disproportionately in hexagons having the most wetlands and wet
shrubland (1-45%) and relatively warm temperatures (July minimum
temperature [hex. min.] of 6-13 C). In areas of the same region that
lacked wetlands and wet shrubland, its distribution was related mostly
to warm (16-18 C) April maximum temperature (hex. med.). In the
western part of its range, it occurred mostly in hexagons with some
low dwarf sagebrush shrubland or with little or no low dwarf
sagebrush shrubland but with relatively flat terrain. The logistic
regression analysis showed positive or negative association with
number of land cover types, April precipitation (hex. med.),
topographic variation, and-to a lesser degree-May precipitation
(hex. min.), June precipitation (hex. min.), and the extent of public
land.
